Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development by presenting brand-new vehicles to the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) chairmen in the state. The ceremony, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center in Lokoja, underscores the governor’s dedication to enhancing governance and development at the local level.

The vehicles are expected to significantly improve the mobility of LGA chairmen, enabling them to effectively reach rural communities, monitor projects, and facilitate good governance. Governor Ododo emphasized that the vehicles are tools for service, not symbols of status, and urged the chairmen to utilize them responsibly to drive development in their areas.
In his remarks, the Governor called on the LGA chairmen to complement the state’s efforts in improving education, healthcare, and security at the local level. He also commended the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for their dedication and encouraged them to collaborate with local government officials to deepen development at the grassroots.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ozigi Deedat, described the occasion as a historic milestone, highlighting the governor’s strong commitment to development across the state. He praised Governor Ododo’s leadership style, noting that it provides an enabling environment for LGA chairmen to perform their duties optimally.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Tosin Olokun, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his continued support for local administration in the state. He assured the Governor of the loyalty and continued support of LGA chairmen in the state, noting that the vehicles will enhance their ability to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
